Citizens Advice Dudley Borough Takes Part in the Business Mile!
A number of staff took part in the first Business Mile walk around Dudley on Thursday 13th June. The Business Mile is an event coordinated by Radio WM in conjunction with West Midlands Combined Authority. Over 350,000 of the West Midland workforce are sedentary for most of their working day and this is just one event linked to the “Get Moving” campaign and the Commonwealth Games that the region is encouraging. There are cast iron route markers that contain snippets of historical Dudley info under your feet as you walk through the town. Did you know:
Joe Darby was the World Spring Jumping Champion in 1890 and he was from Dudley
Dudley Market Charter was granted by Roger de Somery – Lord Dudley – in 1268 making Dudley a very lucrative trading centre
Everyone agreed that it was really enjoyable to get out of the office for a walk, some fresh air and to enjoy the company of our colleagues – many of whom don’t necessarily meet on a daily basis.
On the morning of the 13th our CEO Laura had been interviewed on Radio WM to let them know all about Citizens Advice Dudley Borough and our 80th year celebrations. Laura paid tribute to our fantastic paid and volunteer workforce who, “take on really challenging/complex roles and as an employer and voluntary organisation we really care about our workforce and want to support them to increase their physical activity and mental well-being.”
