Advice on Tax Credits and Universal Credit
We want to highlight an up and coming issue in our community. Please be aware that the DWP has released a new advertising campaign aimed at tax credit claimants which includes social media posts and leaflets.
The campaign is warning claimants that tax credits are ending and that these claimants will need to claim Universal Credit (UC). Unfortunately, these leaflets are causing some confusion and prompting some claimants to think that they must make claims for Universal Credits now. Making a claim for Universal Credit too early or too late can lead to financial loss via not qualifying for benefit run on’s or certain protection elements.
